'Sketch of the British Camp at Pretoria at the commencement of the Boer War on Christmas day 1880', 25 Dec. 1880

Scope and Contents

The caption reads, 'On the right hand is the Convent Laarger [Laager] in which the foot volunteers were quartered. The centre camp was the head quarters of the Garrison under Colonel Gilde. On the left hand in the corner was the Civil Camp for the townspeople. The long brick buildings in the centre of the sketch were for ladies.'
