Commissioned Writers' Contracts, 1983 - 1991
Scope and Contents
Contracts and accompanying letters and other documentation for writers, and some lyricists and composers, who were commissioned by Spitting Image Productions Limited to produce work for some or all of the first six series of Spitting Image, between 1983 and 1989, along with the special episodes produced in that period. Some of these writers were also commissioned to work on merchandise items, such as publications and audio recordings, and contracts for those projects are also present. There are also contracts that go as far as 1991, which pertain to other work that some of these writers/lyricists were commissioned to do.

Commissioned writers' contracts were originally held in hardback yellow files, one or more for each writer, and kept in multiple boxes. The contracts have been placed into new files, and arranged in alphabetical order by surname. When there is a writing partnership between two or more writers, the surname that comes first in the partnership (not necessarily in alphabetical order) determines where their file sits in this section.
