Magazines, 1959 - 1975
Scope and Contents
British and international magazines, journals and other publications that feature Roger Law's artwork, accompanying articles, essays, poems, short stories and extracts from novels written by a variety of journalists/authors. The publications present demonstrate Law's versitility as an artist, using a number of different illustrative techniques, including: pencil/ink drawings, woodcut prints, and plasticine models. Some of the items found in these publications also highlight his collaborative efforts with his wife, Deirdre Amsden. There are also issues of Granta, in which Law and Amsden were art directors for the magazine for a number of issues.
It should also be noted that during his time at The Sunday Times Magazine, specifically from the late 1960s to 1975, Law's duties went beyond illustration, with him performing interviews and conducting research for other journalists, and also writing articles himself. The finished product of such work is also featured in this section, however, his research/reference material for these activities are found in the Journalistic Material series. This also goes for similar activities that he performed for the magazine, Nova, during the same period.
