Scope and Contents

A large mural containing a felt-tip pen and coloured crayon illustration, which is separated into four sections and comments on a speech made by the British Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan. The first section features a representation of Macmillan. The second section contains a drawing of a man, sat at a table laden with food, accompanied by the caption, 'We have not done badly.' The third section features Macmillan and another man sat at a table, once again laden with food, with members of the gentry standing alongside them, accompanied by the caption, 'We have done very well.' The final section depicts a group of miserable pensioners, accompanied by the caption, 'We have not done quite well enough' (RL/Pre-/1484).
