Biographical / Historical

Cambridge Dancers' Club was founded in October 1950 to promote dancing in Cambridge. Its members are predominantly drawn from the University. It provides tuition for both novice and advanced dancers in ballroom and Latin; dancesport; rock and roll; and salsa. A variety of couple and team competitions have been both held and entered by the club including the Varsity match (first held in 1974) and a Cuppers competition. Immediate Source of Acquisition

The majority of records were transferred to the University Archives from the Manuscripts Department on 22 April 2008. They had been deposited by the Cambridge Dancers' Club with the Manuscripts Department on 23 September 1986 and had been given the classmark Ms.Add.8694. SOC.93.1 (addnl) and SOC.93.6 were deposited in the University Archives by S.M. Blanchflower, formerly of Trinity College, on 18 September 2010.
