Scope and Contents

Two files created by the president of the Society, Kate Formby. The first contains both incoming and outgoing correspondence which is largely concerned with making arrangements for the club's speaker programme. Some additional material about a production of Les Fourberies de Scapin by the society in the ADC Theatre, term programmes, copies of Le Francophile, and other circulars are included. The second file is of correspondence with the Fédération Britannique des Comités de l'Alliance Française.

The University Archives are generally freely available to the holder of a reader's ticket for the Manuscripts Reading Room at Cambridge University Library, West Road, Cambridge CB3 9DR. Biographical / Historical

The club met to speak in the French language and appreciate French culture. The society's activities included regular meetings; film-showings; the publication of a newsletter, Le Francophile; and the production of an annual play. Immediate Source of Acquisition

These files were transferred to the University Archives from the Manuscripts Department on 3 October 2007. They had been presented by J. de la Hunty, Trinity College, to the Manuscripts Department on 16 January 1987 and had been given the classmark Ms.Add.8715.
