Biographical / Historical
The club was established in 1989 to bridge the gap between the Mountaineering Club and the Rambling Club. It travels to mountainous regions across the UK for hillwalking, hiking and scrambling at all levels of ability. It runs day trips, weekends away and longer trips during the vacations to areas such as the Lake District, Snowdonia, the Pennines, the Brecon Beacons, and Scotland. Immediate Source of Acquisition
SOC.XIX.1.1 was transferred to the University Archives by Tom Pritchard (Magdalene College) President, and Dr Hicks (Pembroke College) Senior Treasurer, in 1999. SOC.XIX.1.2 was transferred anonymously on 16 July 2003. SOC.XIX.1.3-4 were transferred anonymously on 26 March 2009. SOC.XIX.1.5 was transferred by Joseph Hobbs on 23 April 2015. SOC.XIX.2-4.2 were transferred by Philip Withnall, President 2014-15, on 25 Feb. 2016. SOC.XIX.4.3 was transferred by Sarah Martin, President 2918-19 on 18 Feb. 2019. SOC.XIX.1.6-7 were transferred by Camilla Penney, Senior Treasurer, on 16 Mar. 2022. The records are on deposit with the University Archives.
General
The online catalogue was completed in October 2004 and emended in April 2009, September 2015, June 2016, May 2019 and June 2022.
