René [Millet] has been injured in action. Catherine has witnessed the death of Prussian soldiers in the streets. Bazaine is keeping everything 'en bon ordre'. [François Achille Bazaine, a Marshal of France; who surrendered the last organised French army to the Prussians during the Franco-Prussian War]. Ministre de l’Intérieur Gambetta has left for Tours by balloon. French armies are marching on Paris.
