Letters to Aelfrida Tillyard from Alethea Graham: File 2, 1930-03 - 1931-07
Scope and Contents
Addressed from Paris: written while Alethea was working for 'Semaine a Paris'. Mostly concerning her work and other activities in Paris: quite frivolous in parts to begin with, the letters become strained later. They include descriptions of meetings with her father [Constantine Graham] and his new wife Mildred, and in particular Alethea's worries about her father; they also mention Anatolia [Constantine's mother] and Constantine's wish that Alethea should not see her. There is a gap in the letters from 9 Nov 1930 to 4 Jan 1931 coinciding with Alethea's apparent breakdown and a period spent back at home in Cambridge. The letters include two from Alethea to her younger sister Agatha, 22 March 1930 and 5 July 1931. A letter of 11 June 1931 comments on Aelfrida's relationship with Anthony Wrightson.
