Lolworth Rectory - Southea. Moves in July 1952 from Lolworth to Southea Vicarage, Parson Drove, Cambridgeshire to act in a similar capacity for the incumbent, Fr Dunkin. Description of village life and inhabitants, church services etc. Several stays in Cambridge. Writing becoming more jerky; arthritic pain increasing; accepts a vacancy at St John's Home in Oxford. Misses dead friends - 'partly the pain of not knowing how they stood with God'. Nov. 1952 - another visit from Dr Wynn - 'I .. accept the intellectual and spiritual part and .. maintain a "holy reserve"' about the rest'. Still feels 'chained to the Beloved Community'. Alethea is 'dismissed' and returns from South Africa again in spring 1953. Mention of 'financial difficulties'. Visitors and those visited include Eustace and Phyllis, Helen Megaw and Gwen Raverat. At back, inverted: nature notes. At front: 'The size of me!' (weight and personal measurements).
