Personal diaries, 1897-1959, together with documents formerly contained loose in the diaries, 1868-1959., 1868 - 1959
Scope and Contents
There are 75 diaries in an unbroken sequence dating from 1897 to 1959. The first three volumes were not assigned numbers by AT, but GCPP Tillyard 1/1/4-45 (Aug 1897-1934) were assigned numbers 1-39 by her, after which she ceased to number the volumes. 41 of the volumes, from 1914 onwards, were found to contain loose items, including letters, photographs, press cuttings, news sheets etc. These have been catalogued separately and will be found in this list adjacent to the relevant volume (eg GCPP Tillyard 1/1/23 is the diary for July 1918 to May 1919; GCPP Tillyard 1/1/23a is the loose material found in the diary).
