Personal diaries: Volume 67, 1950-01-03 - 1950-11-18
Scope and Contents
Lolworth Rectory. Visits to Cambridge. Family news: Constance marries John Hibbs; Walter is teaching French and German; Stephen marries Margot; letters from Alethea. Visitors include Julius and Fidelio. Parish visiting, life, people and events. Both Lovells are unwell and Mrs Lovell has a major operation in Nov. 1950. Talk of the devil's work; occasional visions; often with "the community" in spirit; letters from the Mother, who agrees that part of AT's ashes may be buried at Tymawr; mention of guardian angel; interviews with Dr Wynn - AT has sudden doubts about the nature of his relationship with her - he clearly wishes to see her, but not Fr Lovell. Writing: Dr Wynn is very complimentary about 'The Fruits of Silence Part II'; Hutchinsons return 'Just Alice', as do Hodder and Stoughton. July- Aug - 5 weeks at Wetenhall Cottage (recorded separately in Tillyard 1/1/68). At back: nature notes. Pasted in at back: 2 photographs of Alethea and others.
