Scope and Contents

Lolworth. Occasional business trips into Cambridge and a longer stay at Wetenhall Cottage in July 1947. Alethea returns from South Africa in April 1948 - very calm description of same, given that AT hasn't seen her for about 12 years. AT is diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis. Visits from various family members, also Dorothy Conybeare and Fidelio. Discusses continued desire for silence with Dr Wynn (the Bishop of Ely), who also takes her confession and permits her continued use of the 'discipline'. Still misses Tymawr; letters from the Mother with news of SSC; still living very much a religious and devotional life but without the sparkle of being at Tymawr; occasional visions and experience of "universal consciousness". Continued descriptions of church and life in Lolworth. Writing: sends manuscript of 'The Fruits of Silence' to Dr Wynn. Pasted in at back: 7 photographs, including Julius, Mina, AT, John Hibbs [later to become Constance's husband], Lolworth Rectory, Alethea. At front and back: nature notes March 1947 - Feb. 1948; also other miscellaneous notes including telephone numbers, expenditure in 1947, weight and personal measurements.
