Tymawr. Continued round of prayer, retreat, reading, contemplation, visitors, long periods of silence, experience of the world being 'transparent to eternity', trances, visions, showings, meditation, ecstasies and consciousness of unity with the Holy Trinity. The 'clamour of selfhood' is calmed 'for hours together'. AT makes her final promises as a life-tertiary on Oct 5th 1939 and is given a scapular as part of this. Dec. 1939 - brief doubts over ability to continue to bear the physical discomfort, monotony of existence and spiritual tension. Comment on the war and occasional news of Alethea and other family members.
