Tymawr. Visit to Oxford to clear up affairs at St Benedict's and brief visit to Merton House in Cambridge. Continued ill health. Otherwise the daily round of the life of the community, with occasional visions, trances, prayer, silence, devotion, contemplation of heaven. Increasing privation and physical hardship - use of the hair girdle is permitted in addition to the discipline and her guardian angel says she allows herself more sleep than is necessary. Alethea is to settle at St Cuthbert's pro tem and put her vocation out of her mind for the moment.
