Oxford - Tymawr. 'Spiritual Journal I'. AT attempts to restrict this volume solely to matters spiritual and the life of the convent. Visions, "showings" from her guardian angel, meditation, visits from the devil, frequent use of the 'discipline', retreats. AT is admitted as a tertiary on 31 Oct 1937 and becomes known as Sister Placida - description of ceremony of admission and her joy over same. Continued ill health: problems with eyes and back and 'chronic inflammation of the womb'. Visits to and from Julius. 'The Way of Praise' is published by the SPCK in 1938. Occasional comment on world affairs, including the situation in Germany. Alethea is to stay at St Cuthbert's in South Africa until at least spring 1938.
