Scope and Contents

Tymawr / Oxford / Cambridge / Foxton. To-ing and fro-ing between Tymawr and St Benedict's in Oxford, also periods in nursing homes and convalescing at Foxton Hall, Cambridgeshire, followed by a brief stay at Wetenhall Cottage in summer 1937. Many thoughts of Agatha while at WC and a 'visit from Precious Temu'; also destroys a lot of the children's drawings, poems and stories and her own manuscript novels and plays and large quantities of letters and documents. Letters from Alethea, who is warden of a hostel for 20 black leper girls. Visitors include Mina and Eustace. Description of the community life, festivals of the Church, meditation, confession, prayers, visions, 'universal consciousness'. The Reverend Mother says she is too much of an egocentric and Father Northcott thinks her ill health a barrier to progress in the religious life. Still keen on establishing a House of Prayer, but when she writes to the Reverend Mother about this the latter is aghast and threatens to send her away.
