Oxford. Continued residence at St Benedict's. Continued ill health. Visits from Alethea. Asks permission to use the 'discipline'; church at Cowley; 2 nights at the House of Prayer; discussions with Father Cary; meditates at night on the Holy Passion; frequent mention of her guardian angel; occasional visions. Spends a month in Cambridge, Aug.-Sep. 1936 - baptism of her goddaughter, Marie Annette Barron (born at Wetenhall Cottage), visits from Prudence... Lucas [nee Wilkinson] and Lilian Whitehouse. Sep. 1936 - first visit to the Convent of the Sacred Cross, Tymawr, Lydart, Monmouth - hopes to become an oblate of this community - she is advised to spend the winter there. Alethea is to go to work as a missionary in South Africa. Writing: finishes 'The Vicar's Household' in July 1936; receives £50 in Sep. from the SPCK for same.
