Fordfield. Personal: continued relationship of sorts with Willie Searle, though temptation is apparently gone; continued bouts of illness. Children: April 1926 - Alethea goes to Paris to study; letters from her; Alethea is awarded a scholarship to Girton College and goes up in Oct 1926; 'Agatha ... needs much more watching ... she is less balanced'; letter from Constantine to Alethea congratulating her; Agatha enters Little-go in Latin; AT studies... Dante with Alethea; discussions re what Alethea will take for her Part I examinations; a number of male undergraduates keen on the company of Alethea or Agatha or both. Family: news of the children of Phyllis and Eustace and Julius and Mina; visits to P+E at Merton House; AT's father is short-tempered with the children; misunderstandings over P+E's contributions to Alethea's upkeep at Girton; AT's father to have an eye removed. Visitors include Willie Searle; Fidelio; Miss Major, Principal [sic] of Girton; Lilian Whitehouse; Nadja. Activities include meetings of the British Women's Temperance Association; giving lectures to overseas students, arranged through Fitzwilliam House; taking pupils through the summer, family and domestic duty. Writing: Feb 1926 - finishes Agnes Slack [biography]; revision of 'Spiritual Exercises' (Father Douglas says it is too 'eastern' for the Faith Press). Religion: meditation; further visions; communion at St Botolph's; occasional services at St Columba's; Limpsfield House are 'keeping a room' for AT; Easter - 'I hope I am not getting too fond of the beauty of C of E services'; listens to church services on newly acquired family wireless set; often visits Little St Mary's to pray. Pasted in at back: 11 photographs, including the garden at Fordfield, Jan. 1926; and Walter aged 4 and Constance aged 2 (adopted children of Julius and Mina).
