Scope and Contents

Cambridge. Personal: Constantine visits in Oct 1917; AT suffers another miscarriage in Jan 1918; Constantine confesses that he has had an affair and that he doesn't love AT any more; continued bouts of illness. Family: Phyllis [Mudie-Cooke - a Girtonian] becomes engaged to Eustace. Visitors and those visited include: Willie Searle; Mirza Issa Sadiq (to be 'organiser of education in Persia'); Mrs Marshall Ward; Margaret Robinson and Miss Deanesley at Newnham College; Fidelio. Places visited include: family visit to Letchworth Aug 1917; and Linton, Cambridgeshire June 1918. Activities include German lessons with Mrs Duke; gardening (growing vegetables because of the war); annual meeting of the Women's International League; giving a talk on America at the Liberal Club; taking the girls to see a procession of the Women's Land Army. Writing: working on 'The Making of a Mystic', to be published by Heffers. Religion: more discussions on Buddhism; attends a meeting on Spiritual Healing; speaks at a Quaker meeting; visions, 'cosmic consciousness'; offers herself as a minister to the New Cherry Hinton Free Church and is invited to preach. Pasted in at back: 8 photographs including Constantine in Amsterdam, 1917 and in Lyons, 1918.
