Scope and Contents

The memorandum summarises the contents of the graphs with notes on work in progress, foreseeable problems and predicted dates for completion and/or receipt of specific parts.
As to Graph 1: K.802117: stub shaft and blading complete; quill shaft machined complete and at Messrs Herberts for mating with stub shaft; delivery promised for 8 March 1940.
K.802218: blower casings: joint planed, drilled and bedded; air discharge pipes: die castings received; 25% ground and sheet material received; air chamber and dome: sheet material received, flange material promised for dispatch, 24 Feb. 1940, domes formed, air chamber 30% formed prior to welding, impeller in transit from High Duty Alloys for resetting vanes, diffuser castings received, 1st operation complete.
K.802249: spare stub new design blade roots: stub shaft at present with Herberts for splining, promised for despatch 5 Mar. 1940; blading cut to length, machining to complete for Coventry Gauge and Tool Co. to broach 19 Mar. 1940; stools and jigs to facilitate broaching being made by BT-H for completion 19 Mar. 1940.

As to Graph 2: K.802165 (W1) nozzle rings rolled by Fabrication Department; impeller forging: special test pieces cut out, turning profile in progress prior to milling vanes; diffuser vanes: milling started 20 Feb. 1940; air discharge pipe: die castings 25% ground, complete to Tinsmiths for making air discharge pipes 6 Mar. 1940; blower casings and water jackets: casings advised, machining to start 27 Feb. 1940; quill shaft promised from Herberts for final turning after splining, 19 Mar. 1940; stub shaft with Herberts for splining, promised 2 Apr. 1940; governor casings and cover patterns complete for moulding, 27 Feb. 1940; gear casing and cover patterns complete for moulding, 27 Feb. 1940.
List of drawings promised by the Drawing Office. Particulars of the vapouriser, main and pilot jets, flame tube holes and fuel connection held up pending information from Power Jets (annotated in pencil 'due by Apr. 30th').
'We have provided Messrs. Power Jets with copies of all outside orders associated with this work, and we rely on their good offices to influence our suppliers to deliver the material in accordance with our requirements as stated on the order.'
