Biography
Herbert Allen Giles (1845-1935) succeeded Sir Thomas F. Wade as Professor of Chinese at Cambridge University, 1897-1932. He catalogued Wade's Chinese books that were presented to the University.

Herbert Giles: Catalogue of his library
A typescript catalogue of Giles' library, with manuscript annotations. The volume contains an alphabetical list of books written in English, 128 pages, followed by a list of works by Chinese authors, 25 pages, in which the titles are given in both Chinese and English. The text is on the rectos only. Loose with the volume is a printed pamphlet listing the works of Giles' father, the Revd Dr J.A. Giles.
