Note from John Dyer concerning chronometers by Mudge and Earnshaw issued to the late Admiral Drury and another by Arnold issued to Sir Graham Moore, 1825-07-06
Correspondence between the Admiralty Office and the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, requesting the loan of chronometers for H M Ships. The principal recipient is John Pond; the principal correspondent is John Barrow. Other correspondents include John Croker, Richard S. Dundas, G. Smith, John Franklin and Sir William Edward Parry.

The observations begin with a note on setting up his observatory and equipment on shore. They include observations for the going of the clocks; reductions of the rate of Watch No. 1 from comparisons with Clock (B); observations on the tides; observed azimuths and amplitudes; and observations of the depression of the magnetic needle.
Observations made on shore in Cape Town, 1774-03-21 - 1774-04-10
Bayly begins his observations with a note on setting up his instruments on shore, in which he records the loss or theft of some of his equipment. His observations include comparisons of Watch No. 1 with the astronomical clock at the Cape of Good Hope; meridian zenith distances of the sun and stars; observations on the dipping needle; observations on the tides; distances of the sun, moon and stars; and azimuths taken with a compass of constructed by Dr Knight.

Included are observations of equal altitudes observed with an astronomical quadrant by Bird; observations for finding the latitude; comparisons of Mr Arnold’s Watch No. 2 with the astronomical clock; transits of the moon and stars over the meridian; and observations on the west variation of the meridian.
Opening note on the timekeepers, 1772-07-13
The log book starts with an opening note on adjustments to be made to all observations of time during the voyage, due to the fact that [John Arnold's] timekeeper No. 1 was going too slow for meantime at Plymouth, and No. 2 was going too fast.
