Ho Peng-Yoke's translation of 'the important 'Chin Tan Ta Yao [金丹大葯 / Jin Dan Da Yao]' passage', (1331), 1969-01-16
The passage provides 'a statement of the doctrine of the inner and outer macrobiogens, all within the enchymoma realm' (See 'Science and Civilisation in China, Volume 5, Part 5', p. 40). The typescript translation has been heavily annotated and was 'redone by GDL [Lu Gwei-Djen] & JN [Joseph Needham], 16 Jan 69, just before she had to go to Papworth'.

Ho was based at the University of Malaya in Singapore from 1950 to 1964. This institution changed its name on the 1 January 1962 to become the University of Singapore. (See SCC2/12/37). In 1964, Ho took up the chair of the Department of Chinese at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He remained in Kuala Lumpur until 1973.

List of 'History of Science Publications of Dr Ho Ping-Yü', 1959
The documents mostly comprise correspondence with Ho Peng-Yoke, one of the chief collaborators on the 'Science and Civilisation in China project. Ho discovered the account in a Vietnamese historical work dating from 1479. The documents also include a copy of the relevant passage with an English translation.

At the foot of the document, Needham notes that he 'replied 6 Apr 62 from Kilmarth giving BM results'.
