Scope and Contents Adams has been away for a week and apologises for not replying to Rutherford's February 19 letter enclosing the copy of McGowan's of April 08 [MS Add.7653/1/i/A/15 and 15a]. This is good news and will be of substantial help. Dr Traube's case is particularly hard as he is 75 and has several dependent relatives in Edinburgh. Adams has written to Dr C.B. Heald about his request about a German who could help his with high-frequency short-wave work. The edition of the 'Manchester Guardian'...

Scope and Contents This is a carbon-copy of the copy letter enclosed in one from Rutherford to Walter Adams of the Academic Assistance Council at a date between [1936 April 08 and April 21] referred to by Adams in his of April 21 [MS Add.7653/1/i/A/16]. The copy is of Sir (later Lord) Harry McGowan's April 08 letter in which he refers to the previous correspondence between 'Mr Rogers' and Rutherford about the AAC. As Chairman McGowan states that ICI has done all that could be expected to help 'these refugees...
