Biography

Ernest Oswald Butler joined Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in 1929 and was employed in the company's Shipping Departments at Hankow, Hong Kong and Shanghai. He joined Jardine Matheson, Tientsin, in 1949, and became the agency's Shipping Manager. He moved subsequently to the Shipping Department at Hong Kong, where he worked during the 1950s and 1960s.
