Biography
Sydney Ernest Grimstone joined Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in 1916, aged 1923. He was employed initially in the Book Office at Shanghai, before working in the Shipping Office at Hankow and Hong Kong. He was also the company's Agent at Changsha, 1924, and Chungking, 1926-1927. He resigned in 1928.

Copies of semi-official and property correspondence of the offices of Jardine, Matheson & Co. in the Upper Yangtsze Ports (Changsha, Chengtu, Chungking, Hankow and Ichang) and Lower Yangtsze Ports (Chinkiang, Kiukiang, Nanking and Wuhu), including correspondence with Jardine Matheson, Shanghai.
