Desmond Peter Forrest Maxwell joined Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in 1966. He was employed by the company in Hong Kong and Tokyo before joining the Private Office of Matheson & Co. Ltd in 1972, working initially for its subsidiary Turnbull, Gibson & Co. Ltd. He left the company in 1982.
