Biography

Michael Inglis Monro Smith joined Henry Waugh & Co. Ltd in 1952. He became Assistant Manager of the Jardine Engineering Corporation Ltd in 1963, and worked subsequently for the Olayan Saudi Holding Co. in Saudi Arabia and in Jardine, Matheon & Co. Ltd's Hong Kong office. He retired from the company in 1983.

Scope and Contents An incomplete series of copies of semi-official and some property letters from Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, to Jardine Matheson, Taipei, with enclosed letters and papers. The later correspondence also includes some unnumbered semi-official letters. Between 1972 and 1974 the letters include weekly circular letters from Hong Kong reporting on local developments.
