Biography

Martin Gilbert Barrow joined the Import Department of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in Hong Kong in 1965. He was transferred to the company's Tokyo office in 1966, and to Thailand in 1969. He returned to Tokyo in 1973, and become the Managing Director of the company's Japanese operations in 1976. He was President of the subsidiary Olayan Saudi Holding Company in Saudi Arabia, 1980-1983, before returning to Hong Kong as Regional Managing Director. He was a Director of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd, 1980-1984, and Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd, 1984-1987. He retired from Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in 2001, and that year became a Director of Matheson & Co. Ltd.
