Lucky Valley (Nilgiri Hills) Tea Estates Ltd was incorporated on 18 July 1955 following the purchase of the Burnside Estate in the Nilgiris, South India, by Matheson, Bosanquet & Co. Ltd from J.L.H. Stisted in December 1954. The deal was financed by an overdraft obtained for Matheson, Bosanquet & Co. Ltd by Matheson & Co. Ltd from the National Bank of India Ltd. Matheson, Bosanquet & Co. (Private) Ltd, Coonoor, acted as the company's agents and secretaries.
