The Eastern Securities Co. Ltd was formed on 30 October 1963 by Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in partnership with Tan Chin Tuan, a Director of the Straits Trading Co. Ltd, for investment in equities in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, including shares of the Straits Trading Co. Ltd.
