Scope and Contents

149 x 202 mm. Photographic copy of a head and shoulders painting by Alexander H. Kirk, 1915. After servingas Chief Officer on the Livingstone Zambesi Expedition of 1858-63, he obtained a position in 1866 as Medical Officer at the British Consulate in Zanzibar. He served in Zanzibar as Political Agent and Consul General from 1873-87. National Portait Gallery photograph.
