Comprising 9 albums of photographs which include bought photographs and personal ones depicting places, people, animals, and landscapes. Most of these relate to the Isles of Scotland.

The papers include many items relating to Inglis's interest in the theory and practice of bridge-building, including his correspondence with Lt-Col. A.G. Gadd, RE, regarding the hasty development of the Inglis Portable Military Bridge in the face of pressing Army demands during 1940-1941. There are working notes and technical papers, as well as drafts of a number of after-dinner and speech-day orations, which provide an insight into Inglis's leisure interests.

The volume contains notes on bridge construction and on watercolour painting (fos 2-12); a journal of an excursion from Edinburgh to Arran and back, 1-9 May 1811, with notes of expenses (fos 13-20 and 44r-43r); undated notes of other travelling expenses (fo. 47r); pencil sketches, one of a crane at Bell Rock Lighthouse (fos 47v and 45); and addresses of London tradesmen (fo. 42v).
