The papers relate to the activities of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and Committee of 100 and other non-violent disarmament and anti-nuclear pressure groups with whom Ashburner was involved in the 1960's.

Scope and Contents Buzzard's primary career was as a naval officer and a significant portion of this collection reflects this work. There are Second World War naval papers concerning HMS Glory, HMS Superb, HMS Formidable, HMS Theseus and HMS Implacable. Also included are conference papers on issues such as arms, deterrence and disarmament.
