The purpose is described as follows: 'It was decided first chiefly to investigate the question of individual variability from day to day in auditory acuity and ? localisation. The object of the research was to ascertain how far the tests as they are at present applied at the Crystal Palace, may be regarded as giving a reliable measure of a subject's ability.'
