Biographical / Historical
James Ward (1843-1925) was a Congregationalist minister before entering Cambridge University and becoming a Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge (in 1875). He wrote an influential essay entitled 'Psychology' for the ninth edition of the 'Encyclopedia Britannica' (1886) and taught G. E. Moore and Bertrand Russell among others. His portrait, painted by Ambrose McEvoy, is in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
