The papers cover Jacob's adult life from his early army career, his work as Assistant Military Secretary to the War Cabinet and as Director General of the BBC, to his retirement where he remained active in many important public services. Also included are some Boer War papers which were kept by Jacob's father-in-law.

The collection includes Hugill's contemporary diaries of the Normandy landings and the liberation of France, photographs and a file relating to Operation Alacrity, an expedition to take over fuelling and other facilities in the Azores. It also includes his notebooks containing his manuscript draft for "The Hazard Mesh", his autobiographical account of his wartime exploits. Files 10 - 15 were deposited by Fanny Hugill and contain her papers regarding Admiral Bertram Ramsay.

Memoir and related correspondence.

This collection includes copies of Seddon's scientific publications; technical drawings and plans of aircraft; and papers relating to his work at the Royal Aircraft Establishment and notes for the lectures on aerodynamics and design he delivered at Bristol University.

The papers mainly consist of texts by Collins on the work of Coastal Command during the war, particularly in anti-submarine warfare and the role of the B24 Liberator Bomber in the Battle of the Atlantic, but also include his notes taken as Radar Leader of 59 Squadron RAF.

The collection, though small, is interesting as no other papers appear to have been left by Hore-Belisha. It comprises letters, diaries, some photographs and documents (mainly copies) covering most of Hore-Belisha's career but concentrating on his most important position as War Minister from 1937-1939 and particularly the events surrounding his dismissal by Neville Chamberlain.

The material covers much of Lord Duncan-Sandys public life. Papers, reports and correspondence document the ministries in which he served and there are also constituency correspondence, speeches, publications, press cuttings and photographs. A number of papers exist relating to his involvement in the campaign to restore Capital Punishment, the European Movement and the Civic Trust.

Papers relating to Mavis Batey's work at Bletchley Park. The collection is mainly comprised of later articles and notes for speeches by Batey including memories about her work and her colleagues, and a small amount of correspondence with historians of intelligence. Also includes copies and transcripts of wartime documents.

The collection chiefly compiles Lady Onslow's personal letters written to her parents and sister "Jim" from her travels in Churchill's service. They provide first hand evidence of her experiences and include lively recollections of Churchill, descriptions of her work and colleagues, and descriptions of journeys, accommodation and surroundings. The letters are supplemented by a small number of photographs and other mementos.

The material deposited at Churchill Archives Centre by Dr Piers Brendon relates to two documentaries "The Churchills" and "The Windsors".

Copies of letters by Howard-Johnston describing his wartime service, including his work as Director of the Anti-U-Boat Division, and as captain of HMS Bermuda, with the British Pacific Fleet (1947). Subjects include: Cabinet Anti-U-Boat meetings; difficulties with the lack of understanding at the Admiralty of anti-U-Boat operations; German success in evading Asdic; service with Admiral Sir Denis Boyd [Commander-in-Chief, British Pacific Fleet].

The papers include: correspondence from the 1960s to the 2000s, with some papers relating to the Anti-Submarine Experimental Establishment (1942) and naval radar research (1944-45); volumes of notes on experiments from 1947 to 1979; research papers and data files from the late 1970s to 1990s.

Papers and correspondence relating to his books on World War II. The papers are mostly organised round the different books that Ronald Lewin published and, for the most part, comprise correspondence with Lewin or his notes from interviews with people who were colleagues of the military leaders about whom he wrote or who worked in operations he was describing.

The papers comprise signals, letters and miscellaneous papers relating to Admiral Cunninghame Graham's Naval service in both world wars and the inter-war period; his correspondence with Professor Arthur Marder and his correspondence on the subject of the libel action brought by Captain Jack Broome, RN, against David Irving for his book on convoy PQ 17; and papers, press-cuttings and recollections dating from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
