Scope and Contents Invoice books of the main office of Jardine, Matheson & Co. and its predecessors at, successively, Canton, Macao and Hong Kong (1-28), and of the offices at Shanghai (29-42) and Canton (44-50). The Shanghai volumes contain invoices for a variety of goods shipped from Foochow (Fuzhou), Hankow (Wuhan), Swatow (Shantou) and other ports in China, as well as Yokohama and Shanghai. Press copies of letters from Augustine Heard & Co., Hong Kong (1-3) and Foochow (4-11), to various correspondents or concerning particular subjects. Jardine, Matheson & Co. maintained a long correspondence with the firm, and acted as trustee for the liquidation of the company in 1875.
