A view showing the wooden stagings of the fish traps:'Towards the end of the low-water season, small tree-trunks and great supporting posts are fixed upright amongst the rocks and broken water at the falls ... Upon these are built elaborate stagings, lashed with forest creeper ropes, and stretching far out across the tumbling rapids from both banks. Six or ten feet beneath the staging, according to the height of the water, are suspended conical or bell-shaped basket...

Scope and Contents From the File: A collection of photographs on 41 album sheets. Typed on a piece of paper stuck on one album sheet is: 'ALBUM 2. All the photographs in this album were taken by me, on a safari from Victoria (B. Cameroons) to Port Sudan. This journey lasted from April 7/35 till August 2/36. The photographs are of anthropological interest only, and deal mostly with the Mangbetu tribe in the northern Congo; the Karamojong in Northern Uganda, and various tribes in the southern Sudan.
