The caption continues: 'Serious erosion is rather uncommon in the Gold Coast, and is seldom seen extensively in high forest. The vegetation here is open savannah forest, rainfall about 50" with one rainy season.'

The caption continues: 'This wood is known as Ambach and it is used for ... floats in central Africa. One of the few trees in tropical Africa that grows pure.'

The caption on the reverse reads: 'Fulani Herdsmen at Mampon, Gold Coast. The scene depicts the Fulani Herdsmen in charge of a few of the hump backed cattle that hail from the Upper Senegal. Mampon, which is on the great scarp north of Coomassie, is one of the few spots in the Ashanti forests that is reasonably free from the deadly tsetse-fly'.
