Tuli was reached on July 1 and occupied until July 11 when a column consisting of 180 pioneers, 200 police, 62 wagons and a number of small prospecting parties started to cross the Tuli River. This party was preceded by Captain Hoste and B Troop who crossed the river on July 6 and forged ahead cutting the road towards the Umzingwani River 50 miles from...

Showing part of the camp with the searchlight and steam engine (see Y3052A/30) at the left of the print, a row of wagons and men and equipment in the foreground. The location is presumably Impadi rather than Impagi, a spot about two thirds of the way between Tuli and the Umzingwane. The advance road making party reached the Umzingwane on July 10th, the day before the main body set out from Fort Tuli. The main column would have reached Impadi on about July 14th 1890.
