192 x 133 mm. Showing Du Val and another figure seated on a covered wagon (emblazoned with the legend ‘Du Val') in front of the Jerusalem Hotel. A large group stands round the wagon posing for the photographer. The date of this photograph has not been established, since Du Val in ‘With a show through Southern Africa’ (vol. I p 219) states that the party left Durban for Pretoria by train.

A series of watercolours commissioned from the Rhodesian artist Mrs Gilbert Stephenson to be used in colouring lantern slides to illustrate the fifth handbook, A.J. Sargent, 'South Africa: seven lectures (London, 1914). Stephenson had been recommended by the British South Africa Company.
