51 x 73 mm. Showing the statue of President Brand which stands at the entrance to the Government Buildings in Bloemfontein and was erected through public subscription in 1891. At the foot of the statue is inscribed Brand's motto 'Alles sal reg kom so ekeen sy plig ben' (everything will come right if everyone does his duty).

Scope and Contents From the Fonds: The collection consists of a negatives album, produced by Lennon Ltd., Cape Town, containing 125 x 95 mm negatives and an envelope with six further negatives of the same size. Some are poor photographs but many that are apparently very faint contain a good deal of detail. Seven modern prints have also been made and are listed as Y305U/105-111. The images were taken by Albert Ernest Lamb and the captions are from the list in the front of the album. The captions have been used as titles...

Scope and Contents From the File: John Ewart Marnham had admirable opportunities for photographing flora and fauna during his stay in South Africa and in this section his own arrangement under species has been largely followed; the divisions are: lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos [rhinocesaurus] and hippos [hippopotamus], zebras, giraffes, buffalos, kudu, other deer and miscellaneous. Most of these animals were photographed in national parks and game reserves, though not all slides have specific locations. The main parks...
