The town of Bronkhorstspruit, situated about fifty miles from Pretoria, was named Erasmus until 1929.

Gumboot dance, 1965-10
This group of Kodachromes shows Africans dancing in what is clearly the same spot. No 6 is marked 'Mine dancing Durban Deep' and no 13 'Tribal dancing at Johannesburg gold mine.' Presumably, despite its name, Durban Deep is in Johannesburg. Nos 11 and 12 are captioned 'Gumboot dance' but the other slides are merely marked 'MD' without further details.
