Old Kings House, Spanish Town, 1900 - 1910

162 x 113 mm. Showing the front façade of Kings House, built for Henry Moore, who administered the island from 1756 to 1762. This façade is now all that remains of the building, the interior having been destroyed by fire in 1925. The building is situated in the Plaza in Spanish Town.

244 x 196 mm. A view showing the Governor of Jamaica, Sir Henry Arthur Blake (1840-1918) standing beside a small ornamental wheelbarrow and holding a spade, about to perform the opening ceremony. At the right of the picture stand European officials and spectators, while at the left stands a group of labourers. The exact date of the ceremony has not bee ascertained. Sir Henry Blake was Governor of Jamaica between 1889 and 1897.
