250 x 200 mm. The caption reads 'Twenty years later, in 1979, the scene is startlingly different, with several resort complexes and shopping malls on the coastline. Ocho Rios is also a bauxite port and the combined effect of both industries has contributed to the growth of the town as a commercial centre'.

53 x 86 mm. Full length portrait of an unidentified officer. The annotation continues 'From the collection of the Marquess of Cambridge'. Another annotation, in a different hand and ink, appears to give instructions to a printer as to how this photograph should be subtitled in a publication.
Old Kings House, Spanish Town, 1900 - 1910
162 x 113 mm. Showing the front façade of Kings House, built for Henry Moore, who administered the island from 1756 to 1762. This façade is now all that remains of the building, the interior having been destroyed by fire in 1925. The building is situated in the Plaza in Spanish Town.

At the right of the picture stand European officials and spectators, while at the left stands a group of labourers. The exact date of the ceremony has not bee ascertained. Sir Henry Blake was Governor of Jamaica between 1889 and 1897.

The collection shows towns and tourist spots in Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad, Tobago, Antigua and Grenada. Photographs by BOAC, plus one print by the Jamaica Tourist Board.

Political evolution and the movement to independence, 1959 - 1982
A series of photographs relating, as the title suggests, to the move towards independence. The title was chosen by the National Library of Jamaica, and is one of those based on the headings used for the sections of the 'Commonwealth in Focus' exhibition.
