A group at 'Geneva', 1900 - 1903
81 x 82 mm. Showing three women in a garden. Geneva was a large estate in the south of Dominica owned by the Lockhart family. Those pictured are, from left to right: Miss Brenda Lockhart, Mrs Lockhart and Miss Jane Woodcock. Miss Brenda Lockhart never married, helped run the estate. She was the twin sister of Minna who was the mother of the author Jean Rhys. Mrs Lockhart was Brenda and Minna's mother and Miss Jane Woodcock was Mrs Lockhart's sister (Rhys 1979, pp 33-38).

317 x 243 mm. A view looking over hilly, wooded country, dotted here and there with houses. Annandale Estate, at this period having an acreage of 1150 acres and situated about 5 miles north-east of St George's, was the largest of the Grenadan estates and produced cocoa, spices and coffee.

Botanic Garden, St Vincent, 1879 - 1887
244 x 191 mm. A view looking along a path in the gardens with trees and shrubs either side. Situated just below Government House and founded in 1763, the gardens are the oldest in the New World. Bligh's voyage to the South Seas in HMS 'Bounty' in 1787, which ended in mutiny, was made in order to supply the gardens with the breadfruit tree.
