Scope and Contents 240 x 183 mm. A view looking down on to the settlement at Steamer Point with small boats moored in Ordnance Bay. On the hill overlooking Steamer Point can be seen the station flagstaff on a conical hill. The reference to the cast-iron shed in the extract above would seem to date this photograph to c. 1870-75: no covered-in shed can be seen, although there is a wall-less shed on the small landing point beyond the coaling stations. For a similar view taken a few years later, see Y308A/6. F.M....

A view looking out towards Front Bay at the eastern end of the Crater and showing various army buildings with the Artillery and European Infantry Barracks nearest the shoreline in the background. The presence of the Protestant Church on a slight rise at the left of the print dates the photograph to after 1869, the year that particular building was erected.

The talks were held under the chairmanship of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, Mr. Duncan Sandys.

Some of the prints are good quality professional work. Some of the photographs are captioned in ink; in other cases the titles have been derived from duplicate copies in Davies' other Indian album or from other photographs of the same scenes.
