Anchored in the bay, behind the island, is H.M.S. Nelson. Mr Goldie's store is at the extreme left, above the village; at right is Ethel Island, with Elizabeth Islands behind and Mourilyan Island at the right background. Paga Point is seen in the centre background.

205 x 160 mm. A loose black and white print. Captain Blyth posed among native policeman armed with rifles and bandoliers. A. Liston Blyth appears in Colonial Officers records for Papua from 1915, when he was a patrol officer, until 1930. He was Resident Magistrate in the Delta Division, from 1926-1930.

After an explanation of the meaning of the protectorate by Commodore Erskine, representatives of the chiefs were selected and given an ebony stick with Queen Victoria's head on a silver florin affixed to the top, as a symbolic representation of their authority.
