The Temple of Apollo, 1957 - 1974
A religious and political centre dating to the 7th century B.C. at the end of the Roman era. Among the ruins in the area are various building remains, baths and palestra. The sanctuary of Apollo was destroyed by earthquake in the late 4th century A.D.

The aunt of Mohammed is buried here: she came here to make war: some say she was wounded by the enemy, some say that her horse got shy and fell and that she was killed in that way.
